Weekends with Ms. G: Flint Knapping

A little late, but overall the weekend was packed...and relaxing. The highlight was Saturday, devoted to the Silver River Knap In hosted by Florida State Parks. If you have ever been to the Pioneer Settlement in Barberville you have an idea, but this little gathering is focused on knapping, the skill of making tools from chert. It was a lovely day and we had loads of fun!

Weekends with Ms. G: Rivers & Rest

This time of year can be unpredictable. In all regards really: weather, health, time, student behavior (ahem!) to name a few, but when the weather turns out to be as beautiful as it was this weekend The Guevara Family likes to head out to the water. So that's just what we did. What did you do this weekend?

Weekends With Ms. G: It Started with Chik-Fil-A

Like any weekend worth mentioning, the Guevara clan started it with Chik-Fil-A. There's not much more I can say other than Happy FriYAY!

Friyay! The Boys and my Nieces!
Teachers might seem like strange elusive creatures, but we actually participate in lots of mundane tasks. Saturday morning started off great! I mean, what's not to love about pancakes, maple syrup, and coffee? We spent the morning doing chores inside (LAME) while my boys played in the backyard. Later on we went to an rockin' birthday party that featured that totally rad Lighthouse cake pictured below!

Sunday I got up early(ish) to go for a "short" 15 mile run around New Smyrna Beach (my hometown). It was ridiculously windy, but so beautiful out...it's really tough to beat Florida in the winter am I right?!

Anywho...I find that weekends, if you let them can be just another day. We all have to do the boring chores, but find ways to make them special and appreciate who you're doing those chores with. If you did something awesome this weekend please post below!

Weekends With Ms. G

Have you ever been to the grocery store or a restaurant on the weekend and saw one of your teachers at that same place too? Weird right? It's like students don't realize we go home in the evenings and on the weekends, we have actual lives, some admittedly more exciting than others. So I thought it might be fun to share with my students what a typical weekend looks like for the Guevara family. Hopefully it's a fun way for you and your students to get to know me a little better, but I would also really like to hear from you! What did you get into this weekend with your family? I'd love for you to comment below (only nice stuff though please).

Look forward to weekends with Ms. G on Monday Mornings!
